Zeppelin Power Systems informs about comprehensive product portfolio for the maritime industry at SMM

25.07.2022

Hamburg. From 06 to 09 September, Zeppelin Power Systems will be present at SMM, the leading international trade fair for the maritime industry, at the Caterpillar booth (206 in Hall A4). The team of experts will provide information on the comprehensive service for MaK and Cat engines throughout the entire product life cycle. Likewise in focus are efficient propulsion systems as well as digital and EEXI (Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index) solutions to drive decarbonization in the maritime industry. In addition, Zeppelin Power Systems will be providing advice on ballast water treatment systems in Hall B7 at booth 306 of Optimarin.

Zeppelin Power Systems will continue to offer a comprehensive international service for medium-speed MaK and Cat engines. In cooperation with Caterpillar, individual service contracts and benefits are implemented. These include maintenance, repairs, original MaK and Cat spare parts, the inset of mobile technicians and digital solutions such as real-time analysis of engine operating data. The company has its own workshops and a substantial parts inventory. As a certified service center for the Napier and KBB brands, it also offers a full range of services for turbochargers, including an optional on-board service. At SMM, the Zeppelin Power Systems service team will also be advising on retrofit solutions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through the use of alternative fuels.

Efficient solutions for the maritime industry

Optimized propeller solutions from the Berg Propulsion brand offer ship operators the opportunity to reduce their CO2 emissions, achieve IMO CII classifications and lower their fossil energy consumption. Zeppelin Power Systems' offering includes complete propeller systems including engineering, design, installation and commissioning, as well as equipping other manufacturers' propellers with rotor blades. To comply with current emission requirements for internal combustion engines in the NRE and IWP/IWA categories in inland shipping, the company provides EU Stage V Caterpillar engines. Zeppelin Power Systems is also conducting intensive research into the use of fuel cells in maritime applications. The company has set up a test facility at its Achim location and plans to develop the first prototypes in the coming months.

Digitization and management of engine and system data

With customized products and services, Zeppelin Power Systems supports its customers in managing the operation of their engines and systems more efficiently and safely. The Active Equipment Connect (AEC) solution developed in-house makes it possible to connect engines and systems regardless of manufacturer, to record data around the clock and to view and evaluate it as required. The range of services extends from the simple provision of data via an interface and individualized reports in a configurable web portal to 24/7 monitoring, consulting and services. In the Fleet Operations Center (FOC), employees analyze the data, create trend analyses and make recommendations for action. They can detect deviations of certain parameters from their normal value at a precise early stage, ideally taking preventive action and avoiding failures. This makes it possible to monitor engines, applications and entire fleets remotely, schedule maintenance as effectively as possible and coordinate the supply of spare parts.

System solutions for ballast water treatment

As an official partner of Optimarin, Zeppelin Power Systems offers shipyards and ship owners a broad portfolio. This ranges from complete planning and implementation to the delivery of appropriately adapted modules or turnkey solutions of ballast water treatment systems, individually tailored to the needs and spatial capacities. Comprehensive on-site services for ongoing operations on ships worldwide ensure safe and efficient operation of modern shipping.
