CHP Plants

Our flexible, efficient combined heat and power (CHP) plants make a significant contribution to the transformation of energy supply. Based on cogeneration, you can simultaneously produce electricity as well as process heating and cooling, and use more than 90 percent of the primary energy used in a climate-friendly and economical way.

Our services at a glance

CHP as a complete plant

We build complete turnkey CHP plants for the combined generation of electricity, heat, cooling and process steam - in the building or in a container. The electrical output of our units ranges from 0.4 to 4.5 MW.

CHP units for the commercial sector

Our CHP units are used exclusively in the commercial sector: at municipal utilities, energy supply companies, municipal properties, at airports, in hospitals, in industry or in contracting companies.

CHP as emergency power system or UPS

In the event of a power failure, you are optimally equipped with our systems and always supplied with energy: we also supply combined heat and power plants as emergency power supply unit as well as mobile and stationary gensets for uninterrupted power supply (UPS).

Service included

Before the plant is built, we take care of the engineering, sales and project management. After commissioning, we are always there for you. In a service contract, you define which service modules you want and we take care of the maintenance and servicing of your CHP unit.

From 0.4 to 4.5 MW: our CHP gas engines

Our gas engines can simultaneously supply electricity for electrical loads and thermal energy for a plants heating requirements. Each natural gas-powered engine can be configured specifically for heat recovery applications.

Our engines

Benefits

Low cost & low emissions

Cogeneration increases overall fuel efficiency by using a single fuel source for generation. Heat recovery from gas-powered aggregates can make decentralized resources more cost-effective and sustainable.

Economic efficiency

Our CHP plants achieve very high electrical efficiencies and fuel utilization rates of more than 90 percent.

High plant availability

Caterpillar gas engine gensets are characterized by robustness, long service life and reliability. The additional digital monitoring of the plant by our Fleet Operations Center around the clock detects failures at an early stage and thus ensures that the plant operates safely and efficiently.

First-class service

Our service technicians have many years of experience and a high level of expertise. Our dense service network guarantees speed and high spare parts availability

Sustainable energy supply

Increase energy efficiency

Cost-effective and environmentally friendly: You can increase your energy efficiency with combined heat and power units. Gas engines from Zeppelin and Caterpillar have been successfully used as CHP solutions for over 40 years.

CHP operation with hydrogen

Depending on the engine platform, we offer suitable units for operation with up to 20% hydrogen by volume (mixed with methane in each case). From 2023, there will be the first engine type to run 100% on hydrogen. Caterpillar is aiming for all engine types to be 100% H2-capable within the next ten years. Retrofit kits will be available successively for the existing engines.

Thus, our CHP units will continue to make an important contribution to climate change in the future and contribute to highly efficient energy supply.
