Zeppelin Data Policy
Zeppelin GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “Zeppelin”) welcomes your interest in its website and would like to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Alongside easy, efficient operability, we consider the protection of your personal data to be a top priority. The protection of your privacy is a key concern for us when processing personal data and we take this into account in all our business processes.
Therefore, we always process personal data collected during a visit to our website in line with the provisions governing data protection in the respective country in which the party responsible for data processing is located.
In this Data Policy, we explain which personal data is collected on our website. We also explain how this data is used and the measures that Zeppelin takes to protect your data.
Your online application
Apply online for a position at Zeppelin!
Zeppelin offers you an easy way to apply for positions in the form of its online application process, the e-Recruiting System.
Storage and processing of your data by Zeppelin
With the submission of your application, you agree to the storage and processing of your data by the Zeppelin Group within the application process.
Your personal data is processed and used exclusively within the application process and for the purposes of recruitment.
Department managers as well as employees from our HR departments, who are employed by different companies within the Zeppelin Group, may be involved in the application process. This may mean that your data is exchanged between different companies within the Zeppelin Group, which have their registered offices in different countries.
An overview of all companies within the Zeppelin Group can be found in our current Annual Report, which can be accessed at www.zeppelin.de/de/Konzern/Publikationen/index.php.
Your data is stored pursuant to the provisions governing data protection in the respective country, in which the party responsible for data processing is located. If you have applied for a position at a company within the Zeppelin Group which has its registered office in Germany or Austria, your data will be deleted no later than 6 months following the conclusion of the application process.
Your data will only be stored beyond this period if you are appointed following the end of the application process, and your data is transferred from the e-Recruiting System into the relevant HR administration system or if you have explicitly consented to a longer storage period.
You can of course withdraw your application at any time if you are no longer interested in the position. You will then no longer be considered for the remainder of the recruiting process. In this case, your data will be deleted in compliance with the applicable statutory provisions. In Germany and Austria this means that your data will be deleted no later than 6 months following the withdrawal of your application.
Consideration for other positions
Online applications are used within the relevant application process, collected in pools after completion and – if required – forwarded to affiliates and subsidiaries. Your data is used in the respective pools to conduct regional and global searches for suitable applicants, and for HR department employees of the Zeppelin Group to contact prospective candidates during HR marketing campaigns for recruitment. You can revoke your consent to this use and disclosure at any time with immediate effect.
Applications outside the online application process
We generally prefer applications submitted using the online form. This is quick, easy, and saves paper. In exceptional cases we will, however, accept applications by e-mail or post. Following receipt, these are immediately entered manually into the e-Recruiting System by HR department employees of the Zeppelin Group; therefore, the data protection information for online applications is also relevant to such applications.
If you have not found a suitable position at Zeppelin, we offer the “Job Alert” function. You can enter your search parameters and e-mail address here and we will inform you by e-mail as soon as we advertise one or more suitable positions.
By using Job Alert, you agree that we may store the data that you have entered and may use this for the purpose of sending information by e-mail. You may revoke this consent at any time with immediate effect.
In the event of your appointment, your data will be sent from the e-Recruiting System to the HR administration systems of the relevant Zeppelin company. Your data is stored and processed there as employee data.

Personal data means any information concerning the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable individual, pursuant to section 3 paragraph 1 of the BDSG. This includes information such as your name, address, telephone number, and date of birth. Data which cannot be traced to you, such as statistical data, is not personal data.
What data is collected on the Zeppelin Website?
For the purposes of system security, our web server temporarily stores the connection data, such as the date and duration of visit, identification data of the browser and operating system used, the subpages visited on our website and if required, the website from which you have visited us, as well as your computer's IP address. This data is not linked to the data of a natural person.
With the exception of the IP address, personal data is only stored if you have provided us with this data voluntarily, e.g. during registration, an application, for sending information, for inquiries via the website contact form, or to initiate or execute a contractual agreement. By providing this data, you consent to the use of this data for the specific purpose.
You may revoke your consent at any time with immediate effect.
How does Zeppelin use the collected data?
The data we collect when you visit our website is used exclusively to ensure the smooth running of the website and to improve our services and, as a rule, cannot be used to draw any conclusions about you. Provided that you have given your consent, we will use the data we collect to offer you personalized information or inform you of offers that may be of interest to you.
If we collect any further information about you during registration or order processing, this data will be used exclusively for the purposes of implementing the contractual relationship. Information on individual users collected on our website is used for company purposes only. We may also use the information to inform you of offers or improvements which may be of interest to you only if you have granted your consent beforehand or if statutory provisions permit this and if you have not submitted an objection in this respect. However, the data is always used for the purpose for which it was collected. Data shall not be disclosed to third parties for commercial or non-commercial purposes, other than in the event that you have consented to such disclosure of data.
You can revoke your consent to this use of your personal data at any time with immediate effect.

We sometimes use what are known as social plugins for social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. You can identify the social plugins from the logo of the relevant network.
Facebook is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). You can find an overview of plugins for Facebook and their appearance here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins
Twitter is operated by Twitter Inc., 1355 Market St, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA (“Twitter”). You can find an overview of Twitter buttons and their appearance here: https://twitter.com/about/resources/buttons
During your visit to our website, these social plugins are deactivated by default due to what is known as the 2-click solution, and must be activated before use by clicking on the relevant social plugin. After activation, the social plugins remain active until you deactivate them again or delete your cookies.
After activation, a direct connection to the server of the social network, which may be located outside the EU and the EEA, is established. The content of the social plugin is then transferred directly to your browser from the social networks and is embedded into the web page by this browser.
After activating a social plugin, the relevant social network is already able to collect data, irrespective of whether you interact with the social plugins. If you are logged into a social network, this can associate your visit to this web page to your user account. A social network cannot associate the visit to other websites of the Zeppelin Group before you have activated the relevant button there.
If you are a member of a social network and do not want this network to link data collected during your visit to our website with your stored member data, you must log out of the relevant social network prior to activating the buttons.
We have no influence over the amount of data collected by the social networks via their buttons. The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by the relevant social networks, as well as your rights and settings options in this regard to protect your privacy, are provided in the data protection information for the relevant social networks.
Our website uses social plugins ("plugins") provided by Instagram, which is operated by Instagram LLC., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA ("Instagram"). These plugins are identified using an Instagram logo, e.g. in the form of an "Instagram camera". An overview is provided here of Instagram plugins and how they look:
If you access pages on our website that contain a plugin of this type, your browser will connect directly to Instagram's servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly to your browser by Instagram and integrated into the page. The integrated plugin enables Instagram to receive the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page on our website, even if you do not have an Instagram profile or are not currently logged into Instagram. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly to an Instagram server in the USA and stored there.
If you are logged into Instagram, Instagram may link your visit to our website directly with your Instagram account. If you interact with the plugin, e.g. by clicking the "Instagram" button, this information will also be transmitted directly to an Instagram server and stored there. Furthermore, the information will be published on your Instagram account, where your contacts will be able to view it.
If you do not want Instagram to link data collected via our website directly with your Instagram account, you must log out of Instagram before visiting our website. It is possible to prevent the Instagram plugin from loading at all, by using browser add-ons such as the "NoScript" script blocker (http://noscript.net/).
Our website uses “cookies”. Cookies are text files which are stored on your computer and are either necessary for the functionality of the website or are used for usage analysis of the website.
This involves what are known as “session cookies”, which are automatically deleted after the end of your visit. You can prevent the installation of cookies by setting your browser accordingly. Please note, however, that this may restrict the use and convenience of the website.
Use of Google Analytics (pursuant to German Data Protection guidelines)
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses what are known as “cookies”, text files which are stored on your computer and used to analyze your usage of the website. The information on your usage of this website generated by the cookie is normally transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Within the Member States of the European Union or in the Member States of the European Economic Area, your IP address is however shortened beforehand by Google. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google will use this information on behalf of Zeppelin to analyze your usage of the website, compile reports on website activities, and provide us with further services related to website usage and internet usage. The IP address sent from your browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other data from Google. You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; please note, however, that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website. Furthermore, you can prevent the acquisition of data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (incl. your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de)
Please note that on this website Google Analytics has been extended with the code “gat._anonymizeIp();” in order to ensure anonymous logging of IP addresses (known as IP masking).
Displaying videos (YouTube)
In several places on our website, we may have embedded videos which are provided by a third party. This concerns videos from the “YouTube” platform. YouTube is a service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
The video content is visualized exclusively through the provider's use of the “enhanced data protection mode”. As a result, only by clicking on a video can a cookie be stored on your computer to collect data for YouTube. In addition, further collecting and processing operations can be triggered upon which we have no influence.
In this respect, the responsible party in terms of data protection is Google. More information is provided in the Google data protection policy, available at https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/.
If you do not wish to transmit data to YouTube, do not click on the videos embedded on our website.
Use of maps (Google Maps)
Insofar as our website uses Google Maps to display maps and create route plans, the service in question is provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
More information is provided in the Google data protection policy, available at https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/.
What steps does Zeppelin take to protect your data?
Online data transmission is never 100% secure. However, we try to protect your personal data as much as possible. For this purpose, we have taken the appropriate security measures to protect your data against manipulation, loss and destruction, and against unauthorized access by third parties. These security measures are continuously improved.
Right to information
On written request, we will inform you of the personal data relating to you that we have stored.
If you have any questions about how your personal data is processed, handled and dealt with, please contact Zeppelin.
