A successful SMM 2016 in Hamburg

The “SMM 2016 – shipbuilding, machinery and marine technology international” trade fair was held from September 6 – 9 in Hamburg. Parliamentary State Secretary, Uwe Beckmayer, MdB (Member of the Bundestag) and Coordinator for Maritime Affairs for the Federal Government, opened the globally leading trade fair for the maritime economy, which is held biennially. This year, more than 2,000 exhibitors from almost 70 countries presented maritime technologies and innovations. Zeppelin Power Systems presented its solutions on the Caterpillar joint stand, and the propulsion and energy experts were delighted with a successful trade fair with many interesting contacts being made.

Following the opening ceremony, State Secretary Uwe Beckmeyer took a tour of the fair to find out more about the innovations and main themes of the SMM. 

Maritime Cluster Northern Germany, a project operated by the states of Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein, together with IHK Nord (Chamber of Commerce and Industry North) for promoting and networking the maritime economy, also conducted a tour of the trade fair. 

Minister Olaf Lies of the Lower Saxony Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport and VDMA Managing Director Dr. Jörg Mutschler found out more about the Zeppelin Power Systems portfolio at the Caterpillar stand, in particular regarding LNG solutions and engineering expertise.
