Acquisition for the Energy, Temperature and Water business area
The Zeppelin Group acquired the business operations of BEFRA Energietechnik GmbH, based in Leutkirch (Allgäu). With this purchase, the company is further expanding its expertise in the field of transformer stations within the Energy, Temperature Control and Water business are of the Strategic Business Unit Rental.
BEFRA Energietechnik GmbH has been active in the development, planning, sales, and rental of transformer stations for almost 25 years and serves customers in the construction industry, municipal utilities, and industry. In addition to construction sites, the mobile and stationary transformer stations are primarily used for biogas, photovoltaic, and wind power plants as well as energy supply companies.
“The demand for electricity is also rising steadily in the construction industry as part of the energy transition. Whether for electrically powered equipment on construction sites or for the expansion of renewable energies, more and more transformer stations are needed. With this acquisition, we are adding around 70 mobile rental transformers to our own fleet and expanding our expertise in low- and medium-voltage technology,“ says Christoph Afheldt, Member of the Board at Zeppelin Rental. ”At the same time, we are reducing our dependence on external suppliers, can serve existing customers even more comprehensively, and gain access to new and interesting customer segments."
In the Energy, Temperature Control and Water business are, Zeppelin Rental bundles its services in the planning, installation, and servicing of electrical construction site equipment and temporary water supply for construction sites, in energy trading, and in technology for power generation and temperature control. With the acquisition of BEFRA Energietechnik GmbH, the company now also offers its own transformer stations for rent and is simultaneously entering the manufacturing and trading of these products. “The acquisition enables us to achieve sustainable growth in an area where external factors such as long delivery times or low availability have previously slowed us down,” explains Timo Heitkamp, Head of Energy, Temperature Control and Water at Zeppelin Rental. “We are also delighted to have gained two colleagues with exceptional technical expertise and a broad network in the supply industry in the form of the two previous company owners.”
BEFRA Energietechnik GmbH is now offering its services under the name Zeppelin Rental and will be integrated into the existing structure of the rental and construction logistics service provider.
